Very good news. In the next three months the Home Office will publish revised immigration rules for ex British Gurkhas who left before 97. Hold your celebrations until then because the UK government might still have something up their sleeves! We want total victory with equal treatments, pension and benefits for all the ex BritishGurhas!

    Jai Gurkha!

It is definitely a good (if not great) news to Gurkhas and we must congrats them. But I think there will be a lots of terms and condition attached. I suspect it would be relatively easy for retiree and their wives to migrate but for their childrens (specially who are over the age of 18) still a long way to go(may be never). So for those who are too old to work and their overaged children who may not be able to migrate with their parents, it is useless to go because with hundred pound per month pension you cannot survive in UK. So I guess only a fraction of Gurkhas will benefit.

An Ex Gurkha Gordon Corrigan recently wrote in one of his articles, ” Gurkha settlers can afford to live in only the poorer parts of the country [UK], and already there are mutterings about them not integrating. Of course Gurkhas will want to live with other Gurkhas, where they share a common language and culture, but ghettos lead to ostracism. Retired Gurkha soldiers will remain disciplined and honourable; but their children will be unlikely to join the army and already there have been fights between the teenage children of Gurkhas and gangs of young Britons.

The danger is that continued agitation could swing public opinion from being strongly pro-Gurkha to regarding us as a nuisance and, perhaps, even wondering whether continuing to have Gurkhas in the British army is worth the bother, thus ending a 200 yar old tradition that has been of tremendous benefit to Britain and to the Guirkha.

And that would be a tragedy.”

I THINK WE MUST BE AWARE OF THIS DANGER. IS THERE ANY TRUTH IN THE ABOVE STATEMENT? WE MUST CONSIDER OUR PROCEED WISELY AND CAUTIUOSLY FOR THE SHAKE OF OUR CHILDREN.

    JAI GURKHA!

This is the “VICTORY” for the Gurkha’s ,I like to “congratulate those people who were sold by the Rana for own family Royalty and continiouly from 1886 to till now,I now remember those “GAESO” SOLDIERS who were starts to legally fought ,they have fought against BRITISH GOVT.AND SOME OWN CO-PARTNERS”.They collected money as much as they received PENSION and even they sacrificed their current JOB.Some of they faced the charector problem which was blame by own co-partners,Now this was a History one day that will be a “LIFE TESTIMONIAL DOC OF PRESIDENT ==MR. PADAM BAHADUR GURUNG” Now this is time of “GURKHA-WARIOR” control as real discipline ,as being of Gurkha,s family I want to share this happines with you all ,ONCE AGAIN “CONGRATULATION” FOR YOUR VICTORY OF YOUR FUNDAMENTAL -RIGHTS-WINNER,
    TEJ YAKSHO(SEOUL-KOREA-+82-10-5818-4446) Thank-U.

  • 37. Tejj yaksho  |  October 6th, 2008 at 4:29 pm

I hope celebration would be world-wide,and it will be DOC for the this period of worlds and I hope you all have to do one more blessing Job to honour those who ??????????

    Further to Serial 81.

The organization has also termed the settlement of British Gurkhas in Britain as British citizens as treachery.

So we now have several organizations fighting for equal rights to British Gurkhas….

Where comfort is less and hardship is more
But there’s sea of love, worth dying for
Ayo Gurkhali ! Ayo Gurkhali !! Ayo Gurkhali !!!

Heart grows heavy as i depart from loved one
But with so much dreams to fulfill, I must go on
Crossing the seven seas, i reach the place called Britain
Fighting for this country and if alive, i’ll be back again
Ayo Gurkhali ! Ayo Gurkhali !! Ayo Gurkhali !!!

Ser 89. Gorkhas ko Chhori. I have merely copy pasted reports published in leading newpapers of UK and Nepal to share with fellow British Gurkhas so that they are aware of what is being reported currently, in the wake of legal victory in he UK hgh court.

what is your problem with news sharing, news is news? What caught my interest was the report that in London pro maoist has formed an Ex British Gurkha Servicemen Org. True or not I don'’t know.

Ser 98. VOGI. Exactly , why when one can do? Keep the GAESO and other organisations including the pro maoist one in London to yourself. They are none of my concern. My interst is just the news.

    Dear all
congratulation to all ex-british gurkhas, particularly those who have resolutely and relentlessly worked very hard and also to those who have physically and morally supported this history making cause. They deserve very big “SYABAS”. As for persons like ‘ ramji rai’ let’s not bother about them, he is totally insane, his mental ballance is totally disarry, he is a mole and traitor. Just be cautiously aware of him, he is nothing more than a crook and piece of shit. You know ramji i tell you what! since your dignity, integrity and morality are questionable, so that implies you do not qualify for making any productive comments against any individual or organizations, therefor ram ji i suggest you to keep your filthy mouth shut…..LU KHA TAaaa…..

    Gorkhas chhori ji,

Thank you. I appreciate it. Likewise, I wish you well. Of course, I am, as every other Gorkha is, happy for all the ex British Gurkhas, that the hgh court ruling called on the British Government to change its policy of refusing settlement rights if retired before 1997.

Allow me to go back to Gordon Corrigan who has nothing but praise for Gurkhas. In his concluding para of the aricle I think he has given an honest view of Gurkhas facing “life in Engand” and the future of their children. I do no think it is negative or nasty. I think it is something we should like into to find out if it is true or not. If true then perhaps it might be beneficial if we opened our eyes and mind to discuss the issue amonst ourselves, to find ways to help those who need help, to find ways to protect our children from bad influence. I am merely sharing my two pennys thoughts, after all, is this not what this thread is here for?

    104. degulama. From your postings it is apparent that you live away from civilised society. Maoist yourself! If it is the Kantipur Report that gets under your skin then why don’t you find out the source? Many Indian news papers including The Daily Telegraph and some UK tabloids printed this piece. If you are not aware you are free to send your comments to them . Why don’t you instead of writing irrelavent crap here?

  • 109. yogi  |  October 18th, 2008 at 4:36 pm

    105. VOGI. The Kantipur report annoys you too. Why? Instead of taking it out to someone who came across the report and wished to share with others, who don’t you try to reject their allegation by holding a press conference or something? Smart guy like you should find it easy. No, I am not a great person but thank you. Great persons don’t waste their valuable time here with people like degulama, talking rubbish. SALIBURY MP Robert Key has pledged his support to a group of retired Gurkhas fighting for the right to remain in Britain.

The group won their immigration test case at London’s High Court at the end of September and Mr Key has added his voice to the calls urging the Government not to appeal the decision.

He said:”They risked their lives for us and now we mustno turn our backs on them. The Government should not appeal agaist the recent high court ruling which allows Ghurkas who retired bfore 1997 to settle here. Of course their will be difficulties with pensions and housing - but we must find a way to make it work”.

He has also signed a Commons Motion saying Ghurks should be eligible for full Brtish Citizenship on retirement.

Shame and stupid thing that Kirati………….

For thousands of years people of all races have been “moving around all over the world” in search of better lives, without giving up their roots. Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Europeans to name a few. They can be found in every country.
The important thing is not to forget but to keep one’s identiy, culture and traditions alive wherever one may choose to migrate to. Indian, Chinese they all follow their customs and traditions faithfully. We can see this everywhere including Nepal and Hong Kong. So do many other nationals living outside their native lands. Nepalis also do I am proud to say.
Honestly, I see no problem. As NRN they can and do contribute towards the development of our beloved country.
Isn’t ths the way of 21st century?

NICK CLEGG: ‘We are on the majority’s side’

    By Paul Cassell
    20 Oct 08

Retired Gurkhas thanked Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg for supporting a campaign to allow them to settle in the UK during his visit to Reading on Saturday.

Gyanraj Rai, from the United British Gurkha Ex-Servicemen’s Association (UBGEA) in Lndon street, presented the MP with a pin depicting the brigade’s famous kukri knife and a sash outside Reading Civic Offices.

A High Court ruling last month said it was unlawful not to allow Gurkhas who served prior to 1997 the automatic right to apply to stay in the country.

Many of these soldiers have been refused entry or deported and receive a pension about a quarter of the level of those serving after this date.

Describing the treatment of the Gurkhas as a “terrible injustice” , Mr Clegg said: “I will wear this dagger with great pride.

“I am a strong supporter of the campaign to give Gurkhas a fair justice in this country and have politically led debates in the Commons and walked in demonstrations through Westminster.

“For me it is simple, if you are prepared to die for a country, you should be able to live in it.”

    To My Ex-Army Servicemen Friends

By Subedar Rekhbahadur Saru Thapa Magar

    Shared by Jyoti Thapa Mani

    Oh! My ex-army servicemen friends
That we are the brave fighters of Nepal
To the world we have proven
That in every atom of our bodies
The blood of Mother Nepal runs
To the World we have shown.

    But

    As Gurkhas we were recognized
    As Nepalese we were not

The First World War we fought
The Second World War we also fought
    On Italy’s batlefields we fought
On Burmese soil we also fought

    But

    On returning to our Motherland
For our rights and priveleges we fought not.

    On Indonesa’s battlefields we fought
On Tunisian soil we also fought
On battlefilds of France we also fought
On soils of Palestine we also fought

    But

On return to our home land
    To His Majesty’s Government
The whereabouts of Royalty British Pound25
    we questioned not.

    Indo-Pakistan war we fought
    Indo-China war we aso fought
    In Sri Lanka we fought
On the battlefields of Bangladesh we also fought

    But

    On return to our Motherland
    To His Majesty’s Government
    The Ministry of Ex-army servicemen
    We demanded not.

    The bullets from our guns
    Frightened enemies of Britain
    The glint of our Khukri
Also frightened the enemies of India

    But

On return to the land of our birth
From the scrawny peon of District Headquarte
    Frightened we got.

    The Britain of the British
    Great Britain we made
    The British capital London
The capital of the world we made.

    But

On return to our native land
The crafty and deceitful have made us
The sons of the soil of this country
    Menial labourers and homeless.

    Come

    Let us identify
who thrived from the sweat of our toil
    Who made us homeless and
Know who monopolized on our blood

    From now onwards
For the rights and privleges of our children to come

Let us fight the very enemy

    Within our Very Country!

A press release issued by the British Embassy in Kathmandu on Sept 24 stated that the British government would bring immigration rulesfor the Gurkhas in line with broader immigration policy on comparable cases, according to Major Dipak Bahadur Gurung, chairman of Nepal Ex-Servicemen’sAssociation(NESA).

Gurung said they were happy that the fight for justice initiated by NESA five year ago bore fruits after the Gorkha Army Ex-Serviemen’s Organisation (GAESO) joined the fight in latter years.

“Now it’s time to fight jointly for equal pension. If we work hand in hand, it will aso come true one day,” the release added.

Battle to survive and survive the battle is fundamental issue. Noboby like to die but everybody likes to survive. This is, no matter what it is or who?
Centuries ago, BRITAIN needed GURKHAS to survive the battle…Now GURKHAS need battle to survive. But with whom? Of course, BRITAIN
BRITAIN, you got plenty of options but for GURKHAS, none. Now, BRITAIN must decide or its is betrayal. The world is watching…

Hello Yogi Brother, It seems your English is perfect. Thats good thing. Some of our people couldn’t read or write English. So they need people like you who could help them to translate or interprete their problems. Can they count on you?

  • 144. G Tamu  |  October 28th, 2008 at 4:30 am

Forum is where people can be loquacious and cretinous (like ramji rai) or plagiarist Yogi but Numa Ji #128 most of us find gratifying inherently as Nepalese, in fighting, defaming, fragmenting and disparaging each other, (I’m by no means any different) as opposed to augmenting the venture in concerted and constructive manner, frustratingly that’s just so… NOT… us.

Ostentatious Yogi may be! But I find some of his posts useful but one thing I disagree with him is, with his loud applause of Maj Corrigan’s last sentence. By every means he is revered by Gurkhas, many regards him as a father or grandfather figure but seeing Gurkhas through retro-vision binoculars and adamant to stuck-up with KAIDA (Keep always in the dark ages) of yesteryears is making the Gurkhas’ journey to equality arduous moreover as advisors to MOD on Gurkha matters and such officers will remain incongruous despite the British public support. One need not be worried about ostracism, it is instinctive and natural for people to be attracted to areas of its own race and type, it takes time to fill the cultural void but should blend in no time and one thing is for sure they’ll not live off benefits. Whose children aren’t nuisance, in the UK? If anyone was to blame for that, it’s the Govt, because of their softer approach to juvenile delinquents and moreover the ways of parental/teacher taming is not acceptable to the state and that encourages the kids to go wild, not only Gurkhas’ but every and all kinds of children.

Perhaps at this stage, many heaves a sigh of relief with what has been achieved but for those who’s dedicated decades of their lives, there’re more to be achieved and done but the poseurs are the first to claim credibility, namely NESA’s Chairman Mr Dipak Gurung who as “Yogi’s post above #137″, GAESO joining NESA and his victorious statement, is utterly rubbish. Dipak Gurung abetted by Narayan Pun on behalf of Nepal Govt has been nothing but an indelible and obstinate resistance to the Gurkhas fight, for his own vested interests and for those with hue and cry here and there, dignify your hankering mindset by being part of this struggle……

G Tamu, it would seem, is erudite on Gukha matters.

Sharing attributed news, articles etc, plagiarism?

Show off what in this forum?

About Gurkhas going to UK to live, and their dependants, integration into British society, Gordon Corrigan, in my view, wrote as he saw from “a pair of English eyes” to show unseen difficulties that lay ahead. I thought this was good because “forewarned is forearmed” (I read this in school). To go or not go is of course a personal choice. The knowledge that there might be problems would prepare one better to face any unforeseen problem.

However, what Tamu has said is also right. Instinct and nature are always there to guide. No problem! Children all over the worl d are same - nuisance. Yes. May be. But does putting the blame on the Government (UK?) divolve parents of duties and resonsibilities of parenthood?

I think in the UK there is The Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 of which Gurkhas are presumably aware of. For their own good they should be.

The KAIDA,( is it Gurkha KAIDA?) should have been replaced by a new BRITISH GURKHA BRITISH KAIDA because the former can not be applicable any longer. The days of “Keep All In Dark Always are over, I feel. The generation of British Gurkhas are essentially better educated than the pre nine seven ex BGs. They are the equal of British soldiers.

    Source: news.scotsman.com. Sharing!

Quote. Martin Howe is the senior partner at Howe & Co. a leading human rights law firm based in London, which won a High Court case on behalf of retired Gurkhas who had been banned by the government from living in Britain.

Do you think the government will now cave in or do they plan to explore any other legal loop holes?

Martin Howe: Interestingly, the government’s barristers did not appy for permission to appeal (THOUGH THAT STILL MAY POTENTIALLY BE OPEN TO THEM AT A LATER DATE). I suspect the government wanted to gauge public opinion, and now the Home Secretary has come out and said she intends to review her Gurka Immigration policy. Unquote

Reading between the lines, any one?

In winning the court case, the efforts of GAESO and other such organizations deserve loud applause. A good team work. And of course thanks to the growing British public support. Had all the Ex British Gurkha Servicemen Organizations walked together the journey could have been less ardous. More importantly, feeling of being united and good will would be existing all around among Gurkhas. Have an open mind…..

The story ‘Gurkha veterans’ community spirit’ about Shrichandra Gurung and his South London Gurkha Community Association, is heartening, to say the least.

However, negative comment by one “hemraj” (must be a Gurka) is irrational and harmful and could bring disharmony among Gurkha community members, needless to say. Where is the sense of brotherhood?

“blix”, British friend of Shri, has given appropriate reply.

Showing appreciation makes one feel good, certainly! :-)

Now since you seem keen to discover my identity I give you some hints below:

I support Barack Obama. And I like Joe the Plumber.

Books: Deepak Chopra, Vikram Seth. Sashi Tharor. R. Tagore, Dan Brown etc.
Music: Yani, Jagjitsing, Alka Yagnik etc.
Like to watch the world go by when not watching, playing Ratatouille, or surfing or blogging on the net.
    Dislike: Politics.
Self-employed. Cannot be specific but some kind of research type work.

And to share my favorite quotation: “An integral being knows without going, sees without looking, and acccomplishes without doing. ——Lou Tzu.

    Yogi
The general consensus here, is excessive recasting of the information that are readily accessible to us all, as you’ve rightly said, the later generations of Gurkhas are better educated and better informed, the technology has given us all, the same free rain to information first hand or is it, just that you can’t back off, of perpetual Freudian perpetration of intellect grandstanding? It isn’t always the case, you may have noticed.

Seeing through the pair of Gurkhe eyes, Maj Corrigan or his ilk are imposing social stigma on Gurkhas and their families, it isn’t the case of forewarning to forearm. It is simply because their cunning judicial paraphernalia against gurkhas is miserably teetering on the brink of exhaustion to restrict pre-97 from migrating. Let us compare, the number of Gurkhas, with the population of other migrants in the UK and the social mayhem that they are causing in every streets of the country.

Perhaps the definition of KAIDA differs between person to person but the way I see it, it has been a very much of an effective weapon during the whole journey, as litigation on the other side have been heavily influenced by its de facto and including any revisions that were seen by the court of law as necessary to be redeemed and redressed. “Because Kaida says, Gurkhas are minions and come from an impoverished country therefore don’t deserve equal pay and perks or pension”. An indoctrinated stance; has that ever changed?

To add, group-ism and pliancy has always been other foe of it within the Gurkhas themselves for their own vested interests, to exacerbate it further, almost half of the tiny Gurkhe community chose to remain, cowardly pseudo-idealist, idle or neutral, Yogi’s appellation tells or otherwise, it led me to believe that you’re a latter. Lone civics adds little or no flavour to its community. Opportunists on someone else’s expense or integral beings I remain in bafflement…………………… Once again, the fate of pre-97s is in the hands of same old revisionists however lets hope it gets the reflection of egalitarianism this time…

  • 158. yogi (Independant)  |  November 9th, 2008 at 10:04 am

    G Tamu

Hmmmm….. yes. You can say anything and I can keep on debating till cow come home. If nothing else, at least it is good for mental exercise! The more sophistacated the comments the better ! But you know to a layman like me your remarks seem, at times, like a gobbledegook of lawyers!!

OK now it sounds as though you know Corrigan very well and you are quite certain of his feelings about Gurkhas. I don’t know him at all and I merely interpreted his article as the way I felt in my core.

Really? Was or is there such as a thing as KAIDA? And what you describe as indoctrinated stance existed or exists even now? I don’t believe it. I suspect that it was/is made up by and exists in the minds of only those who have grudge against British, on whatever grounds? Subjugation?

Gurkha minions? Sure I have read and heard of Gurkhas being labelled as mercenaries but minions? Aren’t there a great number of people from countires the world over, particularly from underdeveloped or developing who easily fit into this category? Economy and survival being the main reason?

After having seen the world and experienced life, good and bad, dangerous and sheltered, the pre-nine-sevent and others like them, what can be more unfortunate for them than to fail to realise that they have to shift for themselves and their fate is in their own two hands? What in life they have experienced should have taught them many useful lessons including that to raise false hope on speculation only leads to unnecesary disappointment.

Hmmmm, your last paragraph, yes, I think you have valid point there about group-ism, vested interest but this is beyond any one’s control - common knowledge and a fact of life. User name on the internate cannot necessarily be indicative of who one really is. Such names are used randomly, right?

On the issue of UK visa for Gurkhas pre-97 Ms Joanna Lumley has now asked the British Government to put Gurkhas “at the head of the line of those immigrants allowed to settle in the UK.” Slight shift in her position?

“Chintan” mentioned the Tripartite Agreement in his article recently. I think this is a wall, like Berlin Wall, that must be torn down because on this wall is written : 1 July 1997 and The Tripartite Agreement. It is my view that the British Government will defend the wall with thing in her power. But with the British public support and the support of some Lords and MPs, the on going signature compaign we can brick by brick pull the wall down. As Obama broke the highest racial barrier in America!

Yes, we can! Yes we can!!

    Jai Gurkha!

Minorities are always subject of discrimination or segregation because there are always unbalance terms with natives. Religion is sensitive and core reason of humiliation. Other reason can be difference in culture. Language barrier would be effective for employment. If living standard is low, it can contribute hatred among natives for settlers in many ways. And unfortunately, ours is one
As for Gurkhas in Britain, living standard is always biggest issue to maintain therefore presence maximum risk for racial discrimination. Even in their higher society, as their history tells us, underclass or poor are unwelcome. And there is no reason why we Gurkhas, can’t be exception.
We are poor who choose to live in society which is beyond our reach. There is always ONE BARRIER on which they simply can not allow to cross. No matter how or whatsoever favour we show them, they will not tolerate our presence beyond that barrier. It has been such a way since the existence of nature where the strongest prevails and the weakest perishes.

You hit the nail on the head! High-five!!

    @HMM

You missed by a mile. Babuji? What Babuji? Babuji in Inda is ‘Sir’.But here I know you mean derogatory term of clerk in the Gurkha Army. But why? Unless you are resentful of “Babuji’s just staying office with tiperator and had a nice cup of cofee..” Was it you who served that coffee to that has-not-been-to-conflict Babuji? Babuji’ing or clerking is simply a job in an office. You know that. Keeping records , attending to correspondence or filing.. Any one can do such simple tasks.
If he takes the opporunity to learn/improve his English then he deserves well done on his effort. Of couse you dont necessarily have to be a Babuji to do it for there are opportunities everywhere for those willing to learn.

Don’t the Gurkha Army take their offices to the conflict?

How and why do you harbour certain type Gurkha people?
I don’t dig. What I do do harbour is the truth and good thoughts. People naugh! They defile my mind.

As far as I know a “narrow mentality person”is the one who is jealous of the success of others. Blinded by such jealousy, his judgement is always poor. He has inferior complex. You fit in well in this type, you nitwit.

You will never uncover me or myback ground unless and until I so wish. Graham dar or a line b sn? What about Bu Nil or St. Ter…!!!

    A Thought

The second man will soon land on the moon. The first Indian.
The first black American president elect is awaiting inauguration. The world is reeling from economic crises, The UN is desparately trying to check genocide and unfolding human catastrophe in the African continent, cloud computing is here, further advancement in high tech…..

Constitution of Nepal await to be rewritten, Nepalese political parties continue bickering, the many downtrodden ethnic groups vehemently voice their demand for equal justice, equal opportunity… no solution in sight - yet even after so long - for a strong and effetive government…

While somewhere in some other parts of the world the pre 97 Gurkha pensioners live in hope. Hope for the right to go and live in the UK. Hope for the equal pension as the British soldiers.

British public support - “shame, shame, died and ready to die for England let them come. We owe them a debt of honour.”
Some Lords say “yeah, yeah”. Some MPs say, “yeah, yeah”.

The judge ruled illegal the immigration policy of restricting the pre 97 Gurkhas. The Bitish system of government issued carefully worded statement: “.. will review our policy on theses cases..”

The campaign continues. Will the public support and opnion of the British people innfluence the poicy decision of the British Government? Only time will tell.

    Such is life!

    GURKHA S’ RESETTLEMENT RIGHTS

    Yesterday in Parliament

    guardian. co.uk Thurs Nov 13

“Brown pledged to publish new guidance in the “near future” on Gurkhas’ resettlment rights. He said the home secretary, Jacqui Smith, is currently examining a high court ruling that overturned a policy preventing 2000 Gurkhas from living in Britain because they retired before 1997. ”

Dr. Andrew Hall on the Gurkha issue:

While it is true there exist some differences between those Gurkhas who retired before 1997 and those who retired later, they are there for very good reasons….

There have been considerable opposition to the cut off date (1st July 1997) introduced by the British Government vis a vis the Gurkhas and there are concerns that the right to citizenship offered to Gurkhas lacks consistency. Would you like to clarify?

    169.

Not talking about English standard here. This is not an English class. Who is who and who does what for a living is also not the topic here. It is a bad manner to be nosy.

Why? And what do you mean by your seeminly threatenig remarks? They are clearly prejudiced. What do you find in my postings of news and views that make you think I am against the Gurkhas? The right thing for me to do is IGNORE them.

I would look beyond the news and views and opinions of the British and non British people. However, it is also helpful to understand the press freedom and everybody is entitled to his/her opinion.

In order to make The Gurkha Justice Campaign yet stronger, uptodate and true information can be used as a weapon and used when required.

I would try to think like the Kashmiri-born Joanna Lumley, the tireless campaigner and supporter of the Gurkhas. She, Peter Carrol, Martin Howe, Sir Jack Hayward and thousand of other supporters would be unhappy if they find that that there is one like you among the Gurkhas they so admire!

    Part of her letter reads:

“But just unbelievably, the Government has still not changed the law and has still not areed to offer a fair deal for Gurkhas.

In this week in particular, when we have seen the tragic death of a Gurkha serving in the British Army in Afganisthan and four soldiers from the Royal Gurkha Rifles awarded the Military Crossneed to redouble our efforts to make the Government see sense.”

Sadly. another UK soldier from the same battalion died Saturday after his vehicle hit an explosive device while on patrol, in southern Afganistan reports BBC.

House of Commons Home Affairs Committee. Chairman The Rt. Hon . Keith Vaz
    Any other?

They all represent the Gurkhas. The objectives:

    Equal Pensions
The right to settle in the UK

Although the goal is the same, they do not seem to be working in close cooperation for reasons only they know. This rivalry has left me mystified.

However, it is clear to me that:

The position of the British Government is as stated by the Prime Minister in parliament recently. To know it, the Gurkhas must wait for the guidelines to be published in the “near future”.

The celebration and jubilation immediately following the court ruling was natural and justified. But it now seems it was bit too early.

The dissemination of uptodate and correct information about their case would help the pre 97 Gurkhas to understand the situation and maybe lessen their disappointment a bit. Otherwise, they might feel deceived.

“Justice is truth in action.” ~ Benjamin Disraeli

    I now rest.

Rest all you like, ma’boy, rest your lazy bone,
Rest your dumb speech, rest your bloody tone,
Only while you rest, these people can have fun,
So rest your shithead, and just leave them alone,

It gonna be so peace and quiet if you do rest,
After all, this is what they wanted for their best,
At last their society gonna be free of dirty pest,
If you change yourself and join us, be my guest…

What you write is a reflection of your true self - shitful.

You are a perfect specimen of GIGO - Garbage In Garbage Out. You must have been brought up in a society full of garbage. So no wonder all that comes out of you is shit, shit and nothing but shit.

Did you know that the British Government have already made it clear that no matter what they will not modify the basis for the Gurkha Pension Scheme?

Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Veterans), Ministry of Defence statement Mar 2008.

It is not planned to review the position of those ex Gurkha service pensioners who retired before 1 July 1997. They were discharged with an expectation of retirement in Nepal and will continue to receive benefits under the Gurkha Pension Scheme. They are uplifted annually for inflation in Nepal and are periodically reviewed in line with the Indiian Pay Commission.

What happens in the future is another matter but all th pre-97 Gurkhas should be aware of this fact. Stop hoping against hope.

You can fool some of the Gurkhas all of the time and all of the Gurkhas some of the time but you can’t fool all of the Gurkhas all of the time!

Change me? No. You change yourself and be pragmatic!!!

    Rajani;

The addresses were for people to contact the members of this office by phone or mail for an advice, hope you did not expect this to contain the copies of Sections of British Immigration Rules that particularly effects Ex Gurkhas and their children. There’re no so such sections……..

Here’s another site, yet again they may only offer an advice..
