Troops shooting at female protesters in Ivory Coast, least six women were killed.
WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS GRAPHIC FOOTAGE) At least six women were killed as soldiers backing Ivory Coast’s contested president Laurent Gbagbo gunned down female protesters in Abidjan on Thursday. The incident which took place as thousands took part in an all-women march demanding the departure of Laurent Gbagbo. Footage posted on YouTube shows women waving branches in the air in protest as set of successive booms is heard. The crowd of hundreds scatters, then the cameraman pans over the collapsed bodies of at least four women. The incident has prompted a shockwave of criticism. The spokesman for Ivory Coast’s military denied the army was involved. He read a statement on state TV late on Friday, calling it a lie spread by the international media.
